Pros

OTE and salary are solid and comparable to many other SaaS/Cloud companies. Initial training is okay too.

Cons

All sales reps are totally micromanaged and district managers are a bunch of “yes men/women”. Executive sales leadership rule with an iron fist and seem to get off on humiliating and demoralizing people in front of their peers. By far the most stressful and toxic sales environment I’ve witnessed throughout a 10+ year software sales career. If you’re expecting to come here and make friends, forget about it!!

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback; we respect your concerns and take them seriously. It is very important to us to maintain an environment where all employees feel a sense of respect, safety, and belonging at all times. While we do have high expectations of all of our employees, we also actively encourage a work/life balance and strive to establish a clear operating system that supports both. The sales culture is meritocratic and focused on career growth. We have a robust sales process which has proven to be successful, however, we also acknowledge that it requires consistent hard work to master. Our executive sales team fosters excellence by providing industry-leading coaching, development, and enablement. Sometimes this can involve pushing employees outside of their comfort zone to take smart risks and learn from failures. However, this is always in the spirit of helping reps grow faster than they might have thought possible. We encourage all our employees (current and former) to raise concerns and share feedback so that we can take action to continuously improve our organization. If you would be open to sharing more, please get in touch with our Employer Brand Manager, Jess Katz at jess.katz@mongodb.com.

Pros

Product is rock solid and stock options can pay off

Cons

Management could care less about their employees. Growth model is to split territories once a rep starts hitting 60% of their number. Every activity must be recorded/categorized and is measured. You are expected to act like a AE but treated like a SDR. There are a few reps crushing it with the "House Accounts" and everyone else struggles to hit their numbers. Expect to work minimum 12hr days to meet the metrics or just make them up like most are forced to do now. Moral is horrible. Only company I know of that had a global call blitz the second week of covid because they realized they could capitalize on peoples available during their uncertainty.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback; we respect your concerns and take them seriously. While we do have high expectations of all of our employees, we also actively encourage a work/life balance and our sales culture is focused on career development. While the sales process was pioneered at PTC, it has been refined significantly since based on years of research and data and has proven to deliver consistent success. However, we also acknowledge that this does require consistent hard work to master, especially in your first year at MongoDB. Accounts are assigned based on a variety of factors and driven by merit, with managers devoting significant time to territory planning including reallocating accounts as needed to ensure all reps have an equitable opportunity to find success in their patch. As the coronavirus spread to become a pandemic in early March, our team worked to adapt quickly in order to remain focused on serving our customers and identifying meaningful opportunities to add value even in challenging times. We adapted our sales strategy, revisited and refocused rep’s territories, provided additional support, training and communication and also introduced a mandatory work from home policy to ensure employee health and safety. We would encourage you to get in touch with your People Partner or send an email to jess.katz@mongodb.com so that we can more fully understand and address your feedback on our culture. We are continuously working to create a culture of growth, learning, and development. We do this by providing support, coaching, enablement, and training for all employees and feedback is a key part of this process.

Pros

Upper end salary and compensation package.

Cons

Will work you to the ground and measure everything you do. Always finding reasons to tell you that you are not performing. Expect results after 3 months with scarce supporting technical resources.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback; we respect your concerns and take them seriously. Our sales process is rigorous but we provide world-class online and in-person sales enablement training coupled with a 6 month ramp time during which you are supported by your manager and you will also attend a 1 week new starters’ “bootcamp.” We are deeply invested in our sales reps’ performance and helping them reach their professional and personal goals. We have a large global SDR function in Austin, TX, Dublin, IRL, and Gurgaon, IND who help support our Enterprise Sales teams around the world. In addition to the top-of-funnel support this team provides, Enterprise Sales reps are expected to own their own business through an emphasis on consistent pipeline generation activity. We encourage all our employees (current and former) to raise concerns and share feedback so that we can take action to continuously improve our organization.
