Pros

Good and robust technology infrastructure

Cons

Company has an upper level management that manages technology with little understanding of what they are managing. Most managing directors have not done anything hands-on in years. There's any army of PMO people who are highly paid to ensure that allocation are done properly. The focus is on how to save money by outsourcing to India and reducing headcount. One of the highest level Managing Directors in technology was a lawyer who barricades himself in his corner office. Much of the IT talent has fled. Very hierarchical, almost with military rigidity. The place has become so cheap that they cut out bagel Fridays, even though most of the cost was covered by employees anyway.

Pros

- Ability to work independently - Paid licensing and training - Unlimited resources - Great opportunity for those with many connections or family money

Cons

- Very short time frame to build business before being let go - No administrative support - No onsite "coach" or training person - Company is only interested in very large accounts. This can be tough for someone starting out in the business.

Pros

The few high performers that you do come across are truly exceptionally

Cons

Meritocracy is not a concept that management is familiar with. Any employee, regardless of talent or performance, working on "pet" initiatives, is considered to be valuable asset. Promotion is next to impossible if you're not in the "right" roles. Internal mobility is a joke because you cannot apply for the next level up - how does that encourage professional growth within a firm? If you are looking to kill your ambitions, apply now.
