Pros

The company pay is competitive and benefits are okay. Maternity/Paternity are great as well as Fertility and Surrogate coverage.

Cons

Most bureaucratic company I've worked for. Extremely frustrating how long it takes to get many things done. Systems are outdated. Departments are concerned about defending their territory and doing their narrow view. Proactively working together and making things efficient is not part of the culture, Protecting your turf is. Morgan Stanley puts on a show about caring about giving back and company employee engagement. However its either being poorly executed or is not being done with honest intentions (feels like a check mark box). There is a vibe that they want you do charity work to boost the hours that they can put on display. But you never hear about the stories, You don't have senior management coming down/zoom sharing what they did or their experience. All you get a flimsy email for head of HR about the amazing work the company did with computer auto signature.

Pros

Great opportunity to learn from some of the hardest working, most intelligent and successful people in the industry. Most if not all people within the wealth management division that I actively work with (team/bankers/management/other associates) are direct about work and non-passive. There’s really no sugar coating a lot of what we handle b/c time is almost always of the essence. I tend to prefer the no BS attitude (and everyone obviously remains professional).

Cons

Within WM there’s probably not a whole lot of upward movement (especially outside of NYC) unless you eventually want to become and advisor and/or you out the hours in outside of work to build yourself up professionally via financial designations/certifications. Same story goes for pay.
