Morningstar acquisition has wrecked the IT work culture

Pros

Only work here if you need to money food and cannot find another job

Cons

There is no psychological safety. You can’t say what you think. People constantly mock other teams for various reasons. Nobody seems to care about actually doing a good job. Only people who have been in the organization for a long time are listened to. Pay is terrible, and there is no career growth. People have been doing the same job for 14-15 years.

Pros

* Company is growing, expanding the number of offices. * Flexible with work at home. * Progressive technology stack. * Many decent people work here.

Cons

* Floor plan is totally open and very distracting. * Work in IT is not very challenging. * Culture isn't great. Highly political, not collaborative and sometimes disrespectful. * Promotions and salary increases tend to be arbitrary. * No career advancement or coaching in IT. You're hired to do one thing and once that's done, there's nothing else for you. * Company is privately owned by two US-based private equity companies. DBRS will be sold in the near future and senior management seem to be doing the minimum to fluff up the company for the eventual sale in the meantime.

Pros

It is a lot easier to join this company than other CRAs, giving many people an opportunity to advance their careers, but there is a good reason for this...

Cons

The organization is poorly managed with a lot of politics. The company doesn't contact employee satisfaction surveys for an obvious reason. Senior management continues to be willfully blind to resolve problems. As a result, the company has experienced hight turnover over the past couple of years.
