      Pros

      good non monetary perks including unlimited vacation, good health insurance coverage, sabbatical, summer hours. challenging work environment with lots of scope for development.

      Cons

      low salary, lot of work for the salary paid. no standard practices to development, no documentation on projects, too fast paced development

      Pros

      The benefits at Morningstar and the corporate culture are best in class. The opportunities for advancement are there, but the business groups can be cliquish.

      Cons

      Human resources can be secretive. I received two job offers at once within the firm, and they would not tell me the compensation package until I decided which offer I wanted to accept. The business units also operate as silos sometimes.

      Pros

      The mission: Investors Come First. Six week paid sabbatical after four years. Lots of opportunity to do a lot of different things. Potential for excellent experience.

      Cons

      Several areas are not competitive on salary, in exchange for other benefits of working at Morningstar that have waned over the years. A collegial workplace, but one full of passive aggressive personalities, opaque decision making and politics.
