Once great company

Pros

The coworkers are great and make it worth going in every day. The PTO is generous. Their PR machine is fantastic. If you want a couple of years of resume-building experience, then to move on, this is the place for you.

Cons

There is a lot of talk about values, but that is all it is, talk. You can tell that the good reviews are from the vast number of young employees that have been newly hired. The CEO brags at every opportunity that 60% of the company is new in the past 3 years, yet the diversity and gender equality remain a problem, especially in management. What a 60% turnover rate really means is that they are systematically getting rid of anyone with experience and who is over the age of 40. There have been multiple layoffs every year for over a decade, with no end in sight. The workload of those leaving the company is either outsourced overseas or heaped on the employees remaining in the department, regardless of expertise, and with no compensation to match the extra responsibilities. The Sr. Leadership team does not believe in a "cost of living" increase. The former annual raise is now random; you may or may not get one, and with no explanation. If you do get a raise, it is 1-2%. MSI does not pay the market for experienced workers, which is why management is constantly laying off experienced employees and hiring younger, less experienced workers who do not command much in the marketplace. They also do not realize how much the benefits are downgraded year after year, eating away at their take-home pay. A once innovative company now relies on acquisitions to grow, not R&D investment. Acquired employees are laid off at the first opportunity, leaving nobody with the knowledge to support the product
