Pros

For me, the best reason to work at Mott MacDonald are the people you work with. Working with people who are driven and ambitious, who truly care about their work, who have a global mindset and a wonderful variety of cultural and professional backgrounds, makes me excited to come to work every day. As a graduate, it is important to have the right level of support and well as challenge and within Mott MacDonald people really believe in sharing knowledge, supporting each other and driving excellence. Another great aspect of working for MM, especially its MMB branch, is the on-site experience and level of responsibility you are given. I became a project lead of a small project in north Wales two months after I started and had to very quickly learn how to manage project delivery and co-ordinate a team. Despite my limited experience, I was treated with respect by everyone in the team and I had the right level of support every step of the way. It is also particularly great to be able to gain site experience as well as design and project management so early on in your career - ideal if you want to become chartered. To conclude, in my opinion Mott MacDonald is a very positive environment to work in and its people, the social dynamics, diverse challenges and exposure to opportunities both onsite and in the design office make you look forward to every single day at work.

Cons

Personally, I would like to see more competition for young engineers. I feel competitions are a great driver for engineers to push their boundaries, develop expertise and showcase various skills. Technical competitions aside, I very much look forward to MM Sports Day, when various offices compete against each other in a wide range of sport disciplines - including teams from our European offices such as MM Paris! So for me, the more competitions the better

Pros

Employee-owned International consultancy with the feel of a family-run business. Conservative and a bit cautious but that's not so bad in the long run. Always prepared to invest time and effort in staff, the almost flat management structure means that within a short while you know colleagues all over the company. We trade on our reputation and we're doing quite well!

Cons

Too many internal initiatives is my biggest complaint; what we need is an initiative to deal with the problem! Sometimes we don't adapt to the market quite fast enough.
