Pros
There are lots of great facilities, and important, brilliant scientists can be found in most departments. Your personal experience may vary from lab to lab, but overall, its a collaborative environment without a lot of overt competition between groups in the same institution.
Cons
There graduate office is not very organized. They are all very friendly, but unless you take it upon yourself to keep up with your requirements, its easy enough to get lost in the woodwork. Recent efforts seem to be addressing this.
