Pros

Great people to work with, Semi New tech stack CEO has good outlook/experience

Cons

COO is a penny pincher, caused a lot of good hard working people to quit. Also leads new Software engineer hires to believe they would be coding(Java) inevitably was lead down a path to learn Mulesoft, once training was completed, A $7k fee is applied if they leave early. Office is located in Charles Town, WV and required new recruits to move to a Lillie town that is encompass ed with old and retired. Yes rent is cheap but the life quality is awful. They will low ball you with salary and which is disgusting. Health care was good before covid afterwards it’s dreadful.

Mountain State Software Solutions Response

Thank you for the response and thank you for the compliment and approval! That means a lot. To be concerned about Penny Pinching by the COO during a GLOBAL Pandemic is hard to understand. Where many of our competitors were forced to cut salaries by 15%+ and others laid off up to 60% of their company, MS3 survived without major impact. Our strategy not only allowed us to maintain company size and growth but also give out merit increases and be profitable for the year that goes back into the employees in our Profit Sharing Program. I feel that our strategy should have been praised. You're right we do train employees on frameworks such as Mulesoft. Mulesoft just like other frameworks such as SpringMVC, Spring Boot, CAMEL, Tibco are all Java based frameworks. Companies do not write Native Java anymore as it is inefficient and slow to create. This would be liking hiring a Cloud Architect and we teach them Salesforce, you teach them the framework, you don't build a new cloud. Companies need to be innovative and fast to market and thats why we bring Java based frameworks to them to address their business needs. Every employer in the USA has a payback period for any company provided training costs. In many cases like MS3 there is a 1 year payback. Our benefit budget is $4,000 for training with a 1 year payback if you leave so a $7,000 fee is not possible. Lastly, with Charles Town and offers. Those are up to you to accept, they are not forced upon any employee in the company that is going into training or requested to be at HQ. The entire point of Charles Town is our training location for cheap rent that allows people to keep $$ in their pockets instead of paying 2-3x more down near DC. Charles Town is 1 hr away from Downtown DC so there are plenty of things you can get to with the extra money in your pocket vs living in the middle of everything with no money to do anything. As mentioned, MS3 has made great decisions that has ensured over 100 employees to have and keep jobs. The 5 year staff rotation is 8.72% which is WAY below the Technology industry standard of 15%. MS3 takes good care of their employees and always question what we can do better, what we can give to employees to make them feel complete.
