Pros
Production workers can earn a decent living-- Skilled machine operators will earn upwards of $15 an hour for straight time, with the opportunities for holiday and Sunday pay. Some union benefits. Front line managers are fairly competent and decent. Family company, decent culture where you feel somewhat looked after.
Cons
Constant mandatory overtime for production workers-- expect to be held over 4 hours on an 8-hour shift often, and most weeks will include Saturday production with voluntary Sunday work. Facility management temperamental and prone to managerial excess. Salaried supervisors and production management personnel forced to work large amounts of unpaid overtime.
