Pros

The benefits and pay are great. The people who work here are for the most part competent and friendly. They do really try to take care of their employees. Some departments have great DEI initiatives and are welcoming to marginalized communities.

Cons

It's government work so things move slooooow. There's always a lot of red tape and processes to go through to get anything accomplished. There are multiple unions within the County, so working in HR can be a challenge to navigate those. Some departments have a long way to go in terms of DEI and creating an inclusive work environment.

Pros

Great flexibility including FT telework in many departments. Union contracts allow good raises each year.

Cons

You need to be Woke and into things like advertising your pronouns, native land acknowledgements, etc. In many departments to advance.
