      Pros

      NFI is a great place if you enjoy the feeling of being under payed or under appreciated.

      Cons

      Advancement is poor. Empty promises every year. No incentives. Under appreciated. Salary or hourly rate is horrible.

      Pros

      Working with adults and brain injuries is very fulfilling. It is great experience and something that anyone within human services should be interested in.

      Cons

      The company is a joke. Management are chummy and they do not like to add to the group of friends they have become. It was one of the most stressful jobs I have had, as I did the work of the director as well. The adolescent spectrum may be different, but the adult programs are pathetic.

      Pros

      The company endorses the de-institutionalization of individuals with brain injury and mental health issues. The setup is very humanistic in the sense that the housing situation and direct care staffing is well sorted out.

      Cons

      The employment circumstances of the direct care staff is rather exploitative. Every one of the direct care staff resorts to second or third jobs to actually make a living. While the benefit program is well thought out ( it is possible to accumulate 3 weeks paid vacation within 1 year of employment), the direct care staff can not afford to pay for health insurance. NFI managers strategically staff so overtime pay is avoided at all cost.
