Secure job for life. Lots of OT after first 6-9 months.. (at OT 1.5x pay rate) since we are always short a few drivers due to steady turnover. - Government position w/ very strong matching AZ state retirement plan. They match 100% of the 12% automatically taken out of your paycheck. Friendly co-workers and 2021 superiors are not micro-managers. Great scenery traveling multiple routes throughout beautiful Flagstaff. Flexible schedules with seniority based bidding system 2x per year - for your personal schedules
Cons
Have to spend the first year working the less desirable routes & schedules and doing extra-board due to seniority based work-selection system. Passengers are generally quite friendly.. but we drive a good number of drunk and homeless around - since transit service is very low cost. Enforcement of mask policy. Mandatory weekend or Friday work in your schedule the first 18 months or so. However, after that.. schedule and job becomes FAIRLY EASY. Must have your emotional head on straight though.. not sweat the small stuff, be ON TIME.. SHOW UP YOUR WORK.. and don't let periodic problem passengers stress you out. Dental plan is very mediocre.. but aside from that, the bennies are respectable.
