      Pros

      There are not very many research institutes - this is one place I can work as a full time researcher Flexible hours for some work areas High prestige - working in the space program Good compensation

      Cons

      JPL has extremely top heavy management because the only way to advance after 10-15 years of working here is to go into management Many of the people in this top heavy management appear to have little or no interest in doing their jobs Many people in management have little respect for the opinions of the workforce

      Pros

      1) Brilliant scientists 2) Very nice people 3) lots of flexibility to do your research 4) pay is great, especially for science lab internships 5) Employee discounts to amusement parks, etc

      Cons

      1) Can be bit isolating at times, especially as an intern 2) Pay could potentially be better Not much of other cons for working in JPL.
