Pretty decent pay. Really close knit staff. People aren’t robotic.

Cons

Constantly in a sales campaign. Regional management is disconnected with the retail staff. Upper management is all about the money and how not to spend it.

Cons

You are not encouraged to think for yourself. If the higher ups came for a visit, you sat silent unless spoken to. You must be "pro"NBT or you will get spoken to. To get time off you had to sign up at beginning of the year and it goes by seniority. A new person rarely has a chance to get preferred time off.

I really enjoy NBT Bank in the banking world. They are genuinely interested in their customers and their employees. You can find yourself interacting with executive members of the bank as they are out an about interacting and checking in on all of their staff. They do care about career paths and make efforts to help you follow desired paths.

Cons

Depending on your market, the management you deal with daily can make or break it. I found myself in a market full of drama, unclarity in my role, and promises of plans that fell through. It was stressful and disappointing.
