Consistent schedule with the same hours (for the most part) on a weekly basis. The manager was very understanding and easy to work with.

Cons

The salary was not nearly enough for all they expected you to do. There are quarterly sales goals that you have to meet which can be difficult.

Employment is poorly compensated. A lot of new people will come in at higher pay then if you are promoted up the ladder.

Pros

Working in a retail bank normally gives you a steady schedule and the opportunity to impact the financial lives of the people in your community in a positive way. Many of the people I worked with were positive, helpful, and friendly.

Cons

Management is poor and inconsistent. You are told one thing and then punished for doing what you are told. If you weren't personal friends with the Regional Manager there was nothing you could do to gain positive recognition (even if you and your branch were consistently ranked among the top in the bank). The atmosphere was incredibly unprofessional- communications and documents were poorly written, bank conferences were essentially booze fests and I know at least once a Regional Manager was smoking pot with some Branch Managers in one of the hotel rooms. God forbid you mention an error or try to proactively fix a mistake. If that were to happen a lecture would ensue.
