Pros

Gained experience across different areas Developed resilience and professionalism Some supportive colleagues

Cons

- Lack of an inclusive and supportive workplace culture - Experienced racism and discriminatory behaviour as a Black employee - Felt singled out and treated differently compared to others in the team - Concerns were not taken seriously or properly addressed - Inconsistent management and unfair handling of mistakes (public criticism vs private feedback for others) - Trained a new starter who later took over my role without clear communication - Moved into a more administrative position that did not reflect my skills or original role - Limited support, progression and transparency

No chance of progress

Pros

Remote/hybrid working. Easy to get along with colleagues

Cons

Be prepared to stay in your role indefinitely with no clear path forward. There is virtually no career development support no structured progression framework, no regular feedback, and no meaningful conversations about where you want to go or how to get there. You are left to figure it out entirely on your own. Internal mobility is a dead end. Applying for internal roles = being completely ignored by internal recruiters no acknowledgment, no feedback, not even a rejection. It sends a clear message that retention and development are not priorities. The team is consistently understaffed. Hiring is painfully slow and never seems to keep pace with the turnover, which is high. The result is a permanent skeleton crew where the people who stay are expected to absorb the workload of those who leave, with no additional compensation or recognition. Burnout is inevitable in that environment. Pay is below market rate for the level of responsibility and volume of work expected. When you factor in the lack of progression, the lack of support, and the workload, the compensation becomes even harder to justify. If you are someone who values growth, mentorship, or even just being acknowledged for your contributions, think carefully before joining.
