      Old boys club - stale

      Pros

      You may occasionally get interesting projects or clients. I would have said learning opportunities but all the experienced people are leaving.

      Cons

      I won't talk about the layoffs and new management too much as that topic has been beaten to death. A lot of the older consultants think the culture has NOW taken a turn for the worse, but it's been festering for a while. Despite management efforts to promote inclusivity and positive work culture, some people still treat it like an old boys club and drive away people who don't fit into this category. Whether that's due to their own insecurity at being in the same underpaid job for the past 10 years or so, being bored at life, hating their family at home so making life difficult for colleagues, it's hard to tell. Until this changes, particularly until older employees (and I'm not talking about management here) get a grip on their unprofessional behaviour, the culture will remain stale and stagnant and it will be hard to attract and retain talent.

      Pros

      Hybrid working and the office is in good condition.

      Cons

      Extremely negative SLT. Increasing targets with no pay increase. Obsession with figures which we're consistently not achieved with seemingly no plan to improve the situation. It's quote dire and very uninspiring.

When new leaders are appointed into any business, they must collect and review information across the business and make the changes needed to allow the company to adapt to a challenging market. The changes we have had to make recently are understandably not popular, but they have been necessary to make sure we’re a healthy, resilient business in the future that has the right skills available to clients to address their most complex needs. We have announced some incredible appointments at NCC Group recently with respected industry professionals choosing to come on board because they support our strategic approach in the face of current challenges. We hope this will provide some assurance that we are heading in the right direction.

      Was great, until it wasn't

      Pros

      My time at NCC started off strong but quickly went downhill after the new CEO, and after the subsequent layoffs throughout 2023. There is potential to grow but you have to advocate for yourself and stay on top of your manager to make it happen. The only pro I can really think of is the benefits are top notch.

      Cons

      They want you to do a lot of busy work; they ask you to run at 100 mph, want things yesterday, and then the company pumps the breaks. There is a major lack of communication, or consistency with the communication. The commitment to diversity and inclusion is very surface level. They talk a big talk but there's no buy in from management; there are racial and gender bias left and right that they like to pretend doesn't happen.

Having fixed some of the legacy issues that had been accumulating for some time, we can now build for growth and begin to restore some of the pride in being part of NCC Group. Your comments about the quality of our communications are also acknowledged and again, it’s something we’re working to continuously improve. Regarding Inclusion and Diversity at NCC Group, committees are steered by fellow colleagues and all associated events put to leadership are signed off. We’re not always able to shout about the work we do in these areas as we need to be sensitive to those involved.
