Pros

People are great. You're working on games.

Cons

HR is power hungry and doesn't want the company to continue doing things they don't think are "fun" (Happy hour, holiday party, Star Wars screening, etc.). Half the "perks" are gone. No more happy hour, no language classes, no quarterly town halls. It doesn't "feel" like a game studio. It's dead quiet, aside from some teams, half the company doesn't game. The games Nexon makes are super lackluster, unoriginal, and cash-grabby Work-life balance isn't great. BED BUGS! There are bed bugs in the office. Have been for months. No room for upward mobility. There is a very strict time guideline for when you can be promoted, even if you moved laterally from another company. You rarely get the opportunity to socialize outside of your team. Very cliquey. If you aren't "in" with the right people, you're going to have a bad time. Salaries are pitifully low. Everything is dictated by the mothership in Korea.

Pros

The people are great. Everyone works very hard, but are rarely rewarded or compensated accordingly.

Cons

The company has been struggling to make its mark in the west. It has seen numerous leaders (and I use the term loosely) who make empty promises of success that never come to fruition. The employees work tirelessly to keep afloat, the very mediocre, outdated anime titles and stress over rolling out newer titles of promise that eventually meet their ultimate demise due to the company's lack of knowledge of what it takes to launch a successful title in the west. Be extremely cautious if you are approached with an opportunity here. It's a revolving door and mostly likely you will be filling the seat of someone who probably quit because they were: 1) Overworked 2)Underpaid 3)Under-appreciated 4) Under - challenged 5) All of the above If you do decide to take the plunge, just be ready for the empty promises and dreams deferred.
