Pros

-Flexible work schedules -Challenging work that makes a difference in the world! -Management is typically fair and honest- tends towards collaboration -Great culture of scientific innovation; makes new ideas the norm

Cons

-If you love highly charged political work - you might not find it here. NIH research focuses on long term health objectives for humans around the world. Not something that comes and goes with new leadership or management. -This is a very collegial focused atmosphere where opinions are heard out. If you don't have patience to work out consensus or find data to support your opinions to share with peers, you might get annoyed. I personally love it but some prefer direct orders.
