Pros

As for a student from biomedical informatics background, there is no doubt that NIH is a very good place to work. Specially, spending a summer to be an intern there. You can get a great opportunity to know a lot leading researchers.

Cons

There are too many post-docs, which gave me a feeling that some people there end up their career with a forever-post-doc position.

Pros

NIH offers some of the best resources available and allows one to focus on the research. The salary for a postdoc is very good.

Cons

Job prospects for postdocs in general, not just at NIH, are not good. Cost of living in the area and traffic are tough. Bureaucracy is high
