Pros

Sports, Shoes, Culture. The Nike brand is one of the worlds most respected and recognized. It's a good bet when discussing where you work no one will ever ask "What do they do" If you are in to sports there is no better place in the world to work. Superstar athletes are treated like employees on campus. We don't bug them for autographs or pictures. They work out side by side with employees in the gym. Jordan during his first retirement played pick up with some of us in the gym and recently Neymar played lunchtime pick up soccer with employees. You will get a chance to see a different side of some of the stars you watch on tv when they are in town. Some days it feels like you are getting paid to go to college. There are so many events and opportunities to volunteer it's easy to lose focus on your job but I can tell you a long time Nike manager will recognize the importance of new folks attending Nike events and volunteering. Yay Thirst Thursday!

Cons

Politics are out of control these days; Nike no longer feels like family. It's getting really really big. It's changed a lot with the growth but that's to be expected what's not acceptable is to let Just Do It die under a giant pile of red tape. There are so many new people that we are losing sight of what made the company great. The culture will eventually die of we don't take the time to teach and pass it on to the next generation. Another con eroding the culture is that everyone is not on the original campus. They have started referring to all Nike locations in Beaverton as "Nike Campus" trust me there is only one main campus. Some of the buildings outside of main campus are 10 miles away, feel and look nothing like the original campus. If location is important and you are offered a job make sure you ask exactly where you will be working. If HR tells you eventually we will all be on campus that's not gong to happen. The first campus expansion didn't make room for everyone and this one in process will be no different. These are just a few things to keep in mind. I have been at Nike over 20 years so nothing I said is a deal breaker. The pros out weigh the cons most of the time. When they don't it's a good thing we get a free pair of shoes every week....

Pros

Amazing opportunities for personal growth and learning and there is a reason why Nike leads the market, which is a huge innovation and technology investment and the strategy of working years ahead of the game, which leads and inspire the market.

Cons

Nike doesn't care about people and they face an Immature leadership overall and some people on managing roles should never be leading or managing anyone. You will see people from other countries that only had experience in Factory fields with absolutely non soft skills and still doing the: - Do my way or hit the highway!! Also, don't forget that you always be on the stress of: Here comes another "Re-Alignment" and Am I going to lose my job or not?? They will preach you about Networking, which means "Brown Nosing", so if you want to grow You must be able to manage the political BS. They will promise you promotions which may never happen and they will keep bringing new skills that you have to develop before getting to your next level, so they try to make you feel that you are never ready. The HR department overall is a joke and you can't trust them, they will preach you about the Non-Retaliation Policy or: If you see something, say something!! but if you say something and you face a situation, the company will take the opportunity in the next "Re-Alignment" to get rid of you once they don't want any type of conflicts and this is all about the business, so the part that is more relevant to them or has more to offer will always win, no matter what the case is, and if you face that, the same HR person that told you that was there for you and would help you, will be the one setting up your meeting when you get let go, so DON"T trust HR. Despite that, there is a hands full of great leaders and I would NOT certainly include the new CEO - John D on this list, the only thing He cares is about himself, but what I can tell you is: YES, THERE IS LIFE OUTSIDE NIKE!!! and great opportunities out there, so if you ever decide to work for this company, make sure to take the advantage of learning as much as you can and always keep in mind that you are a passenger on this company and the end of your trip could be at anytime, so if that happens, you will be prepared and remember and memorize this saying: YOU ARE JUST A NUMBER!!!! NIKE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT YOU!!!!THIS IS ALL ABOUT THE BUSINESS!!!!

Pros

- Looks good on resume - 50% discount at company store - Okay benefits

Cons

- No work life balance: In my group you have to work 12h+ a day to keep your head above water. This lasted for more than a year with no end in sight until I quit. - 'Who you know' is way more important than 'what you know'. While this is true for any big company it is especially true for Nike. Forget about working hard, here you need to have connections to get ahead. - Very disorganized place - sometimes you ask yourself how can this be a successful multi-billion dollar company. - Little to no support for new employees - a few hours of 'knowledge transfer' and you on your own. - Enormous turnover - a revolving door of people coming and going. - The way ETWs are treated as second class citizens and given false hopes that one day they may be converted. Contracting agencies are more to blame for that but Nike is turning a blind eye so they can lure more people in. - The so called 'Leadership' is very weak, ineffective and quite frankly self serving
