Pros

Great Benefits, Generous Time Off, Great Co Workers, Low Cost Lunch, Free Soup

Cons

All though I gave NJM a Neutral rating, I could have easily given it a dissatisfied rating. NJM is very true to its traditions, and one of those being a lack of diversity in Leadership positions. There are very few if any ethic personeI who holds a position higher than JR Underwriter in the department. I can only speak for the Personal Lines department for my comments and I am sure other departments have a better out look on the company. The advancement (learning multiple lines) opportunity for newly licensed representatives is so stagnant that it has caused morale within the Personal Lines Department to diminish. You constantly hear representatives looking to apply at other organizations after only being within the department for a few months. Seems as if no one within the department is content and happy to work for the organization. I understand that some people are never satisfied, but with a majority of your personal lines staff wanting to leave means it's time for NJM to make some positive changes to boost morale, and take a moment to put there employees first. NJM is known for how great there customer service is, and the personal lines department is responsible for that. If your customers knew how miserable your staff was answering their phone with a tie and shirt on everyday I believe business would be highly effected.

Pros

Great Benefits - changing no longer what it was. Good salaries - no more increases in your salary End of Year Bonus - that's going away soon I bet. Free Soup. - then they feed you leftovers for days

Cons

Take a walk down the halls at NJM and here's what you will see: mostly white employees, very few Hispanic employees unless you count the cleaning staff and lots of miserable unhappy looking employees.

Pros

Insurance is a financial service that is always needed. NJM has been around 100+ years. Customers love NJM.

Cons

In response to the recent review in which the author accused negative reviewers of "not having a clue" and gave advice to simply "be happy", I say: perhaps you haven't been with the company long enough to truly appreciate the negativity that exists as a result of the mismanagement of employees as of late. Further, the stripping of good will and benefits that once made for a family style culture and positive morale is causing mistrust and anger amongst long timers. I'll be "happy" when respect and equality is once again achieved for employees at all levels. Frankly, the condescending language of the "clueless" review suggests a shill in the Personnel Department probably wrote it!
