Pros

It's a good company, very stable and mature. Lot's of products that engulf the entire market. The scale upon which it operates is massive. Working in the company I find that it is a very reputable company in the market. No drilling rig in the entire world has no NOV parts. Management are trying their best in the current market to keep their people in good condition. Improvement in the company structure has been taking place over the past few years. The quality of products is very high which adds to your confidence when dealing with clients.

Cons

The company is so big that higher management will never get to see the last guy in the chain. I have never met our Chairman or VP until today and probably will not. This portrays an issue of employee feedback. Which also gives chance to section heads to take actions feeling no accountability because simply said there is no closed loop feedback. Encouragement from higher management is based on who ever makes the most profit and the least cost regardless what lower management does to their employees, which causes lower management to stress their employees into very low salaries, no expenses almost and very few benefits or even much worse acting outside their job scope to satisfy their personal requirement. I joined the company and have not been told or shown any of my entitlements as an employee except after finding out from my fellow employees or ex-employees a few months later. When I asked for my contract to show these entitlements, I have been told it is based on an internal policy we cannot show it. It is not even mentioned in the employee handbook. There is a lot of corruption especially in the Middle East where you will find that most of the company employees are from the same family. Even if their family names are different, they are still relatives. Which is a direct result to the ignorance of higher management to resolve the issue and HR corruption. The sales segment of the company is horrible. There is no sales plan, no directive to achieve specific targets. No one has done any market study to find out how much of the market the company could satisfy or how much it is covering...they don't even know the size of the market. In fact, they are simply relying on the company name which is clearly the result of the company out performing its competitors. But why stop there? You can do so much better. My manager on so many occasions has taken credit for work that I have done. I have done these achievements which were clearly out of my job scope. I was very happy and proud of my contribution and in return I have received information that my manager has submitted my work in his name to higher management not even mentioning me in the process. Please note, that I do not hate the company or find it a bad company. It is a great place to work and a great honor especially when considering to be part of such a massive organization. But what I am mentioning is fact and it is feedback that may perhaps one day reach management or reach people who are new hires to understand the situation and make decision based on it. Think of it as constructive criticism
