Pros

The beginning of the position is novel. If you are single and enjoy traveling, you might find the job enjoyable at first. Some of my co-workers were wonderful.

Cons

After COVID, this company started going downhill FAST. They do not care about their workers, their mission, or quality service. The only thing they cared about was revenue and meeting their targets. I also started getting micro-managed like no other, and all my manager wanted from me was to get my audits finished. No one addressed the issues arising from clients not fulfilling their end of the bargain. Although I understand that things change, the lack of consistency between NSF leadership and the clients created a messy and inconsistent process when auditing. The technology is ancient (admittedly, this could have changed by now). I also want to mention that the training I initially had in Ann Arbor was fantastic! I thought the rest of the training was going to be that way. Little did I know that the company would try to save money by having mediocre training. I'm sorry, but having a Zoom call and reading me a PDF file of policies is not training; it's a waste of time. One of the main issues I started realizing with auditing was the lack of pay being paid as a salaried person. Why? Although a company credit card was provided for meals, you're not allowed more than $30 for all three meals, with inflation that is borderline impossible (especially if you have nutrition issues). Traveline altogether, which could take a whole day before starting your work week, is not paid! I did the math one time and realized that I was making under $20 an hour. What is the job's most significant strength from my experience became its biggest weakness. Finally, I was also not paid for spending hours doing and re-doing my schedule. I have heard that AI does that for someone now, which sounds nice; however, I disagree with it. As I previously mentioned, the work-life balance in this job is AWFUL. I was never home, and the company's sole focus is on conducting as many audits as possible. That's exactly what AI will do to schedule people. There is no autonomy at all anymore, and it was part of the reason I left. I understand that there were a few bad apples, but that does not mean that all employees should be treated like little kids.
