Pros

Most people working here are smart, dedicated, and mission-driven. There is a genuine passion for public health and sustainability. NSF is a self-funded nonprofit. As a social enterprise, they have historically done a good job of balancing financial performance with a strong mission focus.

Cons

Prior to restructuring, this was one of the best places I have ever worked. The "transformation" resulted in a huge exodus of talented people - some voluntary, some not. This was a top-down process with job descriptions written in squares on an org chart. Instead of recognizing talent and finding a way to make those people successful in a new system - management shoehorned people into the tightly defined job descriptions. If someone did not fit - they were out. We are now 18 months into this transition. None of my colleagues remain. Most of the remaining pre-transition staff are burned out and frustrated.

Pros

The people you work with

Cons

Sinking ship. Just announced all cloud based employees who have made life decisions based on being a remote worker will now be forced in the office 3 days a week commuting an hour or so to have “collaboration “ that was working just fine remotely. Going to unfortunately see a mass exodus of talent

Pros

Cafeteria, get 12 hours a month pto, and get most holidays paid off.

Cons

Management needs to get it together. They literally can give you a bad review just because they don't like you. Management cannot communicate, they change things without telling anyone. They overwork you and then when it comes time to promote they go by favoritism or they base it on who will always be the yes man. HR does absolutely nothing to help. If you try making a complaint they just ignore you. If you get harassed at work and complain they act like you are the problem. Literally had someone threaten people and they didn't get fired. Super hostile environment it causes mental health problems. You cannot survive without a secondary income. Upper management will not answer actual questions they just go round in a circle. Have watched Management put down people in front of their entire team. Retaliation does happen here.
