Pros

Challenging work that requires critical thinking and prepares you for a career in food safety. Good benefits (generous time off). Most colleagues were great people who really cared about food safety.

Cons

Not enough opportunities to advance. No work/life balance. Very stressful, and doesn't pay enough for the strict intense schedules and very long hours. Different rules with different managers.

Pros

The company offers excellent benefits packages with multiple package options

Cons

Managers would verbally one on one support you, but, would not stand up and do so in writing nor when senior management was present

Pros

-there is good compensation and benefits. Depending on who you work for it could be very hands off with little micromanagement and they can be relatively lax about working hours as long as you get your 40 hours a week in. (again this depends greatly who you work under) - cafeteria and fitness center at work -ability to work from home some days -flex time in the summer -more and more business done with China and Asian countries where manufacturing is housed -co-workers are great in my experience, lots of locally based people - no interaction with CEO (see cons)

Cons

Company continued through a LEAN transition after the consulting firm they hired bailed so naturally it wasn't very well organized which was 2 years ago but things remain half finished. The updates to systems and processes concurrently as they tested them. -Some groups have managers who are more suited to carrying out the tasks they assign rather than manage the group they are assigned to.and as a result micromanagement is an issue -rules will be strictly adhered to until a major customer makes a fuss -culture has become centered around $$ and the bottom line not public health. -you are stuck at a computer for 8 hours a day and feel like a drone -overseas offices are not held to the same standards, but the ann arbor office is expected to make up the difference in quality of work - no interaction with CEO .
