Pros

Low-key Hires bootcamp grads Developers are trusted, no micromanagement Lack of competition Everyone goes home at 5 Overall friendly and supportive Not nerdy enough to discriminate against LGBT and women The legacy software is not good, but it's not horrible. Good time off and very good medical insurance

Cons

About as low pay as you can get in this field, but me and my coworkers all live in areas with low cost of living, so we are still doing very well. Some teams are more collaborative than others, it's inconsistent Basically zero technical leadership Very little opportunity to learn or practice good engineering

Pros

Fast paced - sales oriented

Cons

Disrespectful people who do not understand the concept of "boundaries." Here is what I'm talking about: "we're like family" "okay family" "Family, listen up..." Why is this a "thing" at National General? The Company is NOT your "family."
