Great Intern Program

Pros

My internship was amazing. The people in charge of the intern program really want the interns to succeed and make sure the interns have a meaningful experience. I personally had a great experience working with the friendliest group of people I've ever met. I was also amazed with how much the executives and senior management were willing to interact with the interns.

Cons

No cons as an intern.

Pros

This is a very good agency to work for. NGA has some amazing training and travel opportunities. The monetary compensation is excellent. Flexible work schedules are fantastic. This is one of the best federal agencies with some of the best benefits and policies. There are no longer core hours so you can go in really early and leave early or go in late and stay late. Lunch is no longer required so you only have to work 40 hours a week and not 42.5 like most federal employees. You are also authorized up to 3 hours a week to exercise pending supervisory approval.

Cons

Due to the fact that this is an intelligence agency you may be responsible for analyzing intelligence during the holiday season. You don't have to work on holidays but if you are new to your team you will be expected to work before or after major holidays while the more senior team members will take the day off.

Pros

Workforce is generally friendly or at least not hostile Good cafeteria Little perks (you'll find out) Free parking if you get there early enough

Cons

Much of the work cannot be done remotely; however, new leadership is trying to end telework altogether. Might not be an issue for many and in some cases it makes sense, but if you looking for remote work, it's probably not here.
