Pros

Great potential. The mission of this agency gas incredible potential for creating a level of political transparency that can set the conditions improved global security.

Cons

Extreme micromanagement is deeply engrained in the culture of the agency. There is an epic lack of self awareness re this shortcoming. The degree of micromanagement is not only demoralizing and disempowering, it stunts the career growth of employees.

Pros

It's a decent place to work. Benefits are top notch naturally. Pay is good if you're in the DC area.

Cons

Not an ideal place for women looking to advance. You're likely to be passed over for men. If you're of childbearing years....forget about it. You'll never see a promotion. Sexism runs pretty rampant in the agency. If you have health problems, get ready to have issues and justifications from doctors. Otherwise, you're lying. Yes...lying about a life threatening illness. Because the average person will lie about that. Management is top heavy filled with people who won't retire and leave a $200k salary. Oh, and the dirtbags...they get promoted. Promote to get out. Then they'll be someone else's problem. Underperformers, nothing said. Just consider it lucky they showed up to work. And yes, they will be the ones promoted before you so they can be someone else's problem.

Pros

Mission. People. Facility. Community. Great sense of satisfaction contributing to national security mission. Great promise and an increasingly younger, more diversified workforce.

Cons

Too many gitchy strategic objectives that lack congruence or relevance to the agency community mission--been non-stop "good ideas" since 2010. None of them stuck or reached fruition. IT investments squandered for a decade pursuing yesterday's technology. Leadership team is not (leading.) Portfolio effort started in 2011 a disaster, personnel efforts have ruined morale and isolated workforce. People aren't held accountable. Messaging inconsistent, no track to task on planned activities. Bumper stickers or platitudes as goals or objectives--substance light.
