Pros

NI puts a lot of effort into creating a positive work environment where employees feel valued. Colleagues are generally very easy to get along with and team players. New employees seemed to be screened on disposition and congeniality, in addition to being technically sharp. Most people seem pretty happy at work. Everyone seems to have a stellar work ethic. Work-life balance seems to be something you can count on.

Cons

Compensation seems to lag. Wage compression isn't really addressed in as timely a manner as it should be. Some employees are concerned about gaining exposure only in NI technology. NI seems to have their internal messaging down to a science, knowing what to say in any situation.

Pros

Very competent group of people (Ettus Research), interesting technology.

Cons

The technology is very specialized. There are many groups at National Instruments; perhaps the experience in other groups is different.
