Pros

This is where you get to learn from head to toe about designing a product, depending on which group you join. The seniors are very knowledgeable and shares their experience with you with no problems. The culture is laid back and very casual. It is one of the rare companies in Penang where you can wear short pants and slippers to work 5 days a week. Employees are very close to the high management. Mingling with the Vice President is something not out of the ordinary. This company can provide good job stability, maybe because it's still a small company with high profit margins

Cons

The decision making process is consensus driven, hence making it a slow and painful process. If you are an experienced engineer joining NI, be prepared to have very lateral growth, in terms of position as well as pay. While the basic salary is good, the other benefits could be better (RSU, bonus, allowances). Also, if you are an engineer, be prepared to do a lot of non-technical stuff. You may hate it, or you may love it.

Decent start as a fresher

Pros

Offers a good salary package for freshers. Relaxed work environment with flat hierarchy. Senior technical staff is very supportive in most of the teams. Since the Bangalore group has a lot of young crowd, it will be a very good experience particularly for freshers.

Cons

This view is for Bangalore group in particular. The middle management in Bangalore team sucks to the core. Managers are not technically capable of comprehending what their team is doing. The tug of war between the Bangalore team and SE team in Austin for who does what keeps going on leaving the engineers jobless at times.

Pros

emphasis on learning. everybody will help you out when u ask them for assistance. great intern program. Austin is a great place to be.

Cons

boring 9-5 job....life will not be interesting. sit in the same place and work for 7 hrs straight. not many downsides but fairly low salary b/c no state taxes
