Pros

There are still some great individuals in NI, left over from previous years when Dr. T. was CEO, although their numbers are rapidly dwindling in the current culture. After many years of complaints, the new CEO is finally taking some action on improving compensation. Now you can get a one digit % yearly salary increase if you're a top performer in R&D... I'll let you judge if that's little or a lot, but the bright side is upper management is not ignoring the problem anymore, so it's better than nothing. The stock price has increased under the new CEO (he's an accountant / financial focused person after all), although it's volatile because the markets "smell" there's something wrong with the company. Still, it's good if you're a shareholder.

Cons

All high performing employees that I know have left, are leaving or are planning to leave for greener pastures. The culture is very bad now, it turned toxic since the new CEO took over a few years ago. Lots of short term pressure and micromanagement (if you don't finish by Friday you'll have to come to work in the weekend). There is the perception that everything must be done for short term gains and deadlines, to increase short term revenue and boost investor confidence. Lots of shortcuts. An obscene number of politics, backstabbing and finger pointing when things inevitably go wrong. There is a constant attrition goal and hiring freeze going on for years coupled with small random layoffs and an upper management focused on moving development to lower cost countries in Asia. The company is a shadow of what it once was under Dr. T.
