Pros
Remote work. Company appears to be financially doing well, so layoffs were never a concern.
Cons
You'll quickly learn that they are not kidding when they warn you in the interviews that the systems for working claims are difficult and tedious. Simply writing and documenting an email requires you to send the email, summarize it in the notes (cannot copy and paste) drop it to the desk top, upload it to the documents system, and then code/file it. And that's for every. single. email -and there's a lot of them. That's just the email process, everything else is just as tedious, if not worse. They expect you to handle claims "cradle to grave" which is perfectly fine, but they expect adjusters to be able to handle any of the 50 states, as well as truck, passenger AND specialty claims. Oh, and GL! Sure, it's good for experience but for having to do the workload of four different adjusting jobs, I promise the pay does not match. They will tell you guidewire will be coming soon™️ but they've been saying that for years. The turnover rate is atrocious, yes even for a typical claims role. As claims adjusters we all know that proper reserving is key to doing our jobs correctly...expect to fill out a lengthy excel sheet for every single reserve change. It doesn't matter if it's within your authority or not, and you must get the insureds "approval" before you can make any changes, or do your job. Basically everything must be "approved" by the insured which slows down your ability to do your job. If an insured does not "agree" they will likely CC the highest ranking person in the organization they have the contact for and try to throw you under the bus, or they'll set up a zoom meeting so they can argue with you why they don't want to pay $15,000 to settle a claim in Fulton County GA when their driver is negligent. There's more, a lot more but what it boils down to is if you want to ignore the red flags or not. I saw so many, within a month of starting there that I just decided to ignore. Don't! There are so many other claims roles right now that will pay you for your expertise, and don't require you to spend 10 minutes documenting one email or spending 30 minutes to an hour filing out n excel sheet, just to change one single reserve on a claim.
