Pros

A lot of direct interaction with upper management including VP of Finance and CFO

Cons

Extreme work loads, long hours, weekends, and never positive reinforcement for good work. Only the bad is noted, very very poor management

Pros

Cafeteria on site with automatic payroll deduction, two on site gyms, offer yoga classes during lunch and after work, offer more than one start time, most managers are approachable, very friendly enviroment. Co-workers become extended family, many long term employees.

Cons

Currently the transition to new ownerror (Great American) platforms due to acquisition late in 2016 is poor. Employees understand and accept changes will occur but the lateness of delivery relevant to employee financial impact has been very poor and disappointing.

National Interstate Keeps Getting Better!

Pros

There is a lot of passion and drive behind most of the National Interstate employees. This is a company that makes sure your voice is heard, no matter your level, title, or tenure. I'm never afraid to speak my mind, and I love being part of the change and progress. HR does a great job keeping employees engaged and doing a lot of extra things throughout the year to make us feel cared for.

Cons

Some people are still resistant to change, even when it is clear it will benefit them and their team. As a result, it is sometimes difficult to make progress quickly enough to keep up with industry demand. It also costs us good resources, who end up going elsewhere to find better opportunities for growth.
