Pros

great co-workers, on site cafeteria, on site gym, full time benefits.

Cons

Management loves to love each other, and that's basically it. If you aren't in you're out. Severe lack of diversity. If you're a white male in your mid/late 30's you'll do just fine regardless of experience or actual success at your position. Very little to no diversity in management in this company. Minimal to no work life balance, if you work your scheduled hours and leave on time you get berated for being a "short timer" and "going home early". You're expected to have email access on your phone, but no compensation for it. There was nothing I did at my desk all day that I couldn't effectively do from home. There is very little empowerment of employee's to do their job, a lot of micromanaging from the top down. Although HR seems to care about individual employee welfare one on one, they leave it up to individual departments to execute rules. This decision leaves inconsistency across the company. One manager will make you take PTO for an appointment, when another one won't thus making a potential hostile workplace.

Stressful

Pros

The people make this place tolerable. Senior management struggles through growth, as can be seen by recent results. Most of the other reviews hit it on the head with the company parties, etc.

Cons

Everyone is underpaid, including the CEO (it's true). Bonuses are a pipe dream and spread out over two years so you always leave money on the table when you quit. Extreme growth goals caused issues in claims reserving and now the company struggles to make underwriting profit. So it's hard to see this turning around.

Pros

Some great people if they stay. Lunch program. If you like Mad men and old school work atmosphere this is the place for you. Ties, Skirts and high heels encouraged. Plus you are encouraged to work late and at home but you can't leave early without using vacation.

Cons

Wasted 2 years on dead end job. Was not the job I was hired for and no one in my group ever gets promoted.. All honest reviews below regarding time off, travel and promotions. Popular young trendy kids get fastracked. Looks and dress more important than ethics. 40 somethings shown the door. No automation or IT of any sort to help business. Company stuck in 1980's. No compliance or security around files /privacy both employee and customer. There are many small business run better and more efficient.
