Pros

The location. And the office space was nice and clean. That's about it.

Cons

No idea where to begin. The whole company is built on a fundamentally flawed concept which is the common core standards. They are always borderline bankrupt, probably because their executives all make obscenely high salaries to do very little while they continue to lay off people who actually do the work.It is the worst good ol' boys network I've ever been around in more than 25 years in the workplace - if you're not "one of them," they will let you know through their body language and make it as uncomfortable for you as possible. That's what happened t me. They are all former teachers who think they are smarter than everyone else, and they let me know from day one through their actions that I was not on the same plane as them and they didn't think I belonged with them. Somehow I lasted a year and a half. When they decided to let me go, my direct supervisor did not even have the guts to face me. She did not show up for the meeting. . she had her supervisor do her dirty work. Office politics at its worst. I was fired for "not being one of them," plain and simple. They've had a couple of massive layoffs since I left, so that should tell you all you need to know about their financial well-being. If you're not "one of them," you WILL get treated like dirt. Consider yourself warned.

Pros

This Used to be a Really Well Run Non-Profit Organization

Cons

I worked for NMSI for close to 8 years; I traveled giving lectures, trainings and seminars to students and teachers. After a Covid related restructuring they hired me as a Coach. After a year of working as a Coach, via lame pathetic email, I, along with many other others, were laid off. They stated the reason for the lay offs were a lack of demand, lose of contracts with major DOE's in NYC and others. Yet, one month later, on the NMSI website there was a job posting for Coaches; very shady non-profit, high employee turnover and no loyalty to long time employees-stay away.
