Pros

Great way to experience the country while finding new friends. You never have to stay more than 6 months if you don't like it. Sometimes, very interesting and rewarding work. Sometimes, subsidized housing (park housing may be in old historical homes, dorm style housing, or houses depending on seniority )

Cons

Government work breeds overworking bootlickers and toxic underworkers. Alcoholics sometimes allowed to use machinery while still under the influence. Hard to find permanent jobs without going to very undesirable locations

Some of the most interesting work you can do in the federal government, very dedicated and passionate employees, you get work in some of our nation's most iconic places, amazing mission.

Cons

The management culture is stuck in the past and I don't see much hope for the kind of change that is needed. People leave because of the leadership, not because of the work. Personally, the kind of people that we want to work for the NPS will never stay until there is some serious culture change, and it starts at the top.
