Pros

Business strategy is refined - focused on being a mutual company and working together as one company. Leadership cares about moving the company forward and offers a good opportunity for work/life balance.

Cons

You have to commute downtown, percentage of people making big $$ (>$250,000) is low.

Pros

decent benefits package, The local team I worked with was great and I enjoyed being part of this team. Office was in a great location

Cons

Where to begin. First change was to functionalize key parts of the business, including HR, IT, Finance. This pulled the support away from the businesses to swork with the corporate office and created a highly matrixed environment where people who worked in a business spent more time making sure all the various constituents were updated on relatively low level issues rather than just solving them or taking advantage of opportunities. Second, they changed incenttive comp structure to reduce or in fact eliminate line of sight between what individuals could impact and the basis for their bonus. Everything was tied to how the enterprise did, but, for me and the majority of other executives, we could not truly impact this. Third, decisioning rights migrated from the business to a center "committee", increasing beaucracy and delaying speed of response to market opportunities. Overall, this reduced the scope and influence of my job to the point it was better off leaving and finding a new opportunity in an environment where my talents and expertise was valued and appreciated.

Pros

One of the best reason to work at Nationwide is because of the proper Work and life balance Second reason would be the benefits given to the employees

Cons

One of the major downside is that there is no motivation when you achieve something. In order to grow your career you are expected to follow the traditional hierarchy level. It does not matter what education you have got.
