Pros

Nationwide provides great benefits, flexible schedules and relatively competitive salaries. If you live in Columbus or want to live in Columbus, it is probably one of the better employers.

Cons

It is in a very competitive industry which makes career progression difficult (the company is not growing so positions only open up when somebody else leaves). People are smart but not always allowed to take advantage of that because of the extremely political culture.

Pros

The benefits are nice and time off is fairly flexible (except for busy season). They value giving back to the community.

Cons

Difficult to move around to me, each department is like and isolated group of people. There have been many changes in leadership recently so it seems like we are all being shuffled around.

Pros

They have both a 401k and Pension, and a on site wellness center... other than that there is nothing positive.

Cons

Horrible pay below industry standards (received 26% increase at new job), slow to promote, incompetent Management, very stressful work environment, extra hours (50+) expected, constant change and chaos, executives do not value employees... all that matters is the bottom line... which is interesting when considering they are a mutual with no stock price to worry about.
