      Investment Department is a great place to work!

      Pros

      Great benefits! The management at least within the Investments department, are very flexible. Education is promoted and encouraged.

      Cons

      The above is not the case for all departments within Nationwide. There are some managers that have no clue as to how to manage a team or any individual for that manner. Executives are allowed to get by with their horrible behavior because as one HR person has said it is cheaper to hire another associate level staff member than an executive.

      Pros

      Good benefits, family type atmpsophere to an extent, caring and concerned managers.

      Cons

      Compensation is not comparable with other companies. They recently removed most of their field reps and have downsized. If you want to advance you will have to move to OH or other big cities. Upper management does not seem to be in touch with the day to day operations and procedures of handling claims.

      Pros

      My job is very flexible. My manager is very laid back and he listens to suggestions. It used to really, really have a "family" atmosphere but that has changed over the past 18 years. Everyone feels like our jobs could be cut any day. Even in times like these, all of the co-workers remain close and tight knit like a family.

      Cons

      Our CEO greedily accepted a 23 million dollar bonus while people are being let go daily. Since a banker took over as CEO it has become numbers driven and a greedy company that doesn't care about it's people. All of this makes for bad morale yet they continually tell us WE need to fix our own engagement and morale.
