Pros

Native Instruments is a business that is in the midst of fast paced transformation and it is an exciting place to be. With a leadership team truly committed to shaping not just the NI business but the industry as a whole - there is a lot to do and very often many challenges to overcome - so if that is the kind of environment in which you thrive, it it a pretty amazing place to be. Personally, I enjoy working in an environment where I have the opportunity to affect change and where I can see the tangible impact of my and my teams hard work and I also believe this opportunity is accessible for anyone working at Native. I love to work in an environment where ideas are welcomed, innovation is rewarded and where I leave my workday knowing I have made a difference. Last but not least - the people and the level of collaboration across passionate cross-functional teams and groups of people is nothing short of amazing. I am thankful everyday to work with such talented, passionate and committed people, at all levels and in many locations.

Cons

If you struggle to work within ambiguity, don't like a lot of change and prefer clear structures and a chain of command - then it may not be the best place for you right now. It's not for everyone and it probably differs depending on the role and the team. NI is on a journey and in many areas this is ongoing and iterative, it is by no means perfect and requires some patience. A lack of clear process can be challenging (unless you like to build and create it) and as with most mid-sized companies, there are not enough resources to do everything all at once; it requires most to work at a both a concept creation and a hands on level and there are no ivory towers (or corner offices) in sight!

Pros

The Boston office is a GREAT team. Very down to earth and easy to work with. Good benefits

Cons

Leadership is a mess. After a shuffly of CEO's the direction of the company is a little unknown and very volatile. There isn't much training or advancement, you are on your own to progress youin r career. Can be underpaying.

A Sinking Ship far from what it Once Was

Pros

Amazing people, some of the nicest, most talented and creative individuals will be among your coworkers. Everyone working at NI is deeply passionate about making music or music in general, and there is a (declining) fantastic culture of sharing ideas. Good benefits! True 'unlimited' PTO. The best thing about this being a European company is they really encourage you to take 3-6 weeks vacation every year, people are often gone for a whole month at a time. REMOTE WORK IS A HUGE PLUS!! A real global company, they're flexible with scheduling and hours. I worked 7:30-3:30 for years and it worked for me, management is super flexible as long as you get your work done. Fun culture. Good discounts on the company's products, as well as many other industry partnerships.

Cons

Strap in. More than anything, the biggest downside is there is little to no stability here. There are constant departures from senior positions, and the threat of layoffs is always seen in everyone's eyes. Every all hands feels like a layoff is coming. People who've worked for the company for decades have been jumping ship for years with no real effort to rehire to these roles. Very low possibility for career advancement. Especially in creative roles, people do not commonly get promoted or even given raises. The pay is also massively substandard for a company of NI's size and industry notoriety. No bonuses, many years without a raise. The company is always strapped for cash, despite how badly it wants to make every year like 2020 when we were all inside making music. After being bought by private equity, it's gotten much worse. The executive team feels like they're just coasting on big salaries until the company folds. C-suite frequently in flux, with 6+ CEO changes over four years and a revolving door of other leaders, it always felt like NI wasn't on stable footing. Overall, the frequent change in leadership and management by private equity transitioned the company from a passionate audio company focussed on making interesting and compelling products people wanted, to a business that was more focussed on constantly re-releasing old products with few updates to squeeze what cash they can out of their customer base. Creativity both in app development and marketing was quashed in the interest of making the safe sale. Finally, they treat their people like statistics. Frequently, layoffs and firings happen right after product launches; as soon as you finish a massive campaign or project, someone will come in with an AI-written termination notice and drop you like a hot potato.

Pros

Smart and caring coworkers on your team who are passionate about the work they do. Flexible remote working options. Leadership for my department was excellent.

Cons

Unorganized leadership from C level to department leads. C level and execs have no experience in the audio industry and thus place horribly unrealistic expectations on development and sales. Decisions seem to be made on a whim with little research done and often lead to disappointing outcomes. They do not invest in their employees. I worked there for nearly 4 years, was promoted several times, and saw absolutely obismal pay increases that didn't come anywhere close to matching the amount of responsibilities I took on or the meet the increased costs of living 5 years behind on industry salary rates. No clear goals to grow company other than "to make a profit". Absolutely no internal growth. They will put up opportunities for interal hires and have them go through several stages of interviews, and then decide to simply not fill the role. Hiring and wage increases are negociated through the German Works Council even for American employees, which greatly hinders any career growth. Time zones difference between Berlin and USA makes collaboration very difficult. Slowly removing benefits that have been grandfathered in since the beginning days of iZotope

Thank you for your feedback. It seems you left us a while back, mentioning downsizing, which happened well over a year ago. Since then, there have been big changes at NI, like a new leadership team who have shared a new vision, mission and strategy...to name a few. Thanks for mentioning the good things about our team and flexible working options. We've taken that feedback and similar feedback from our people to heart and incorporated those positives into our new company values. We've also become even more flexible with our remote-first policy. We understand your concerns about leadership and pay, and we're working hard to fix past issues and we are about to introduce a new global career framework aligning roles and salaries with market standards. Our main goal is to create a supportive culture, encourage internal growth, and make collaboration easier. Thanks for all you've done, and best of luck going forward!

Pros

This is such a diverse and inclusive place to work - we even have an engagement lead who makes sure all of our activities and events are managed well. My colleagues are talented and I learn a lot from them - although it would have been nice to see more people in our office. We have the opportunity to work from home and from the office as we please which is the right flexibility for me. Our Leadership Team is transparent and very engaging and they have taken us all on an amazing journey. Our CEO is taking time to speak to all of us and he is approachable and a GREAT listener. I'm so happy I decided to join at the right time where so many things are happening - our future looks promising.

Cons

A few of my own peers and colleagues have a hard time to adjust to our new structures and ways of working. It makes me sad that some of them have provocative comments during company meetings - it's not good for morale and I hope they will decide to leave instead of making us listen to all their whining and gossiping. It's really not nice to hear them being so negative.
