Pros

Some of review writers are liars or lack of knowledgeable of federal employment regulations. All federal employment employees, including PSNS employees receive same benefits in term of annual leave and sick leave. Every employee receives 4 hrs of sick leave for every 2 week regardless of how long he/she works for federal. And every employee receives 4 hrs of annual leave if he/she works for federal including PSNS for 3 years or less, and receive 6 hrs of annual leaves if work federal for 6 years, and receive 8 hrs of annual leaves if work for 15 years. Federal employments provide health care and life ins weren't that good, because employees have to buy it with prices depended coverage. One thing I experienced with federal employments that if you have college degrees you have many opportunities for career advances. I started out with GS-5, $17,000/year at 25 years ago as an engineer. I am now GS-14 even higher if I want to. If I don't have college degree I might have GS-09 that is a highest I might go, because there is no position such as GS 12 or higher without having college degrees or very rare situations. Anyways, PSNS is a bad place to work, especially if you are a blue collar worker, including technician levels. Most of supervisors of blue collar workers are lack of educations or uneducated, because they were from lowest career starters. I mean they treat employee as trash. Engineering positions are low pay compared to other federal employment agencies. If you happened to work for PSNS I recommend, after couple years you should look for other federal employments if opportunities are available

Cons

It is a bad place to employ

Pros

Very good benefits, and low risk of loosing your position. This is a good company to start out your career, but over time your skills will start to become too specific to be directly marketable to other companies. Your job carer will be what you make of it, and unless you drive the advancement you will stall in one position.

Cons

Overall negative attitudes. This extends to navy personnel that you are in a direct working relationship with. You may find 1 in every 10 that re good to work with, but over time this becomes very exhausting. The shipyard is not interested in improving their workforce, and unless you work at it yourself, you will find yourself very behind your counterparts that you graduated college with when it comes to skills.
