Pros

- Coworkers are generally great and easy to get along with - Pretty chill environment, business casual - Benefits are great!

Cons

- For software developers, an awful place to work if you want to learn from other software developers. I got lucky and eventually got a good mentor, but was working without any help for a long time. - Not many opportunities for software developers - If you're not interested in Naval Architecture, there's not much to knowledge to gain here unless you get lucky enough to get hired into a well-established development team (which I only know of one) - High expectations for a new hire. I had two years of work experience, and yet was expected to take up the role of Programming Lead. - Very limited ND-5 positions. There's a point where you can't progress with your salary - You have to wear all hats and do more than your job description. I was expected to help purchase software and help with various IT tasks even though I was hired as a software developer for a specific project.

Pros

* Hard to Get fired * Benefits Go a long way (Duh, It's the Government) * You basically Get to Treat people like Toilet water from a 3rd world country once you Become a high Grade because HR is a Joke.

Cons

* Everyone hates their Job. * You get treated like an animal. * Technical Leads Hold grudges and make you regret the day you were born. * May be hard to find a new Job if you're there for too long. * Branch Heads don't give a ratsass if their engineers are being Chewed out and grounded into the pavement by their Technical leads. * No one hears you. Air your grievances all day, it won't matter. It's like a never ending nightmare. * Technical Leads use Fear as a Leadership tool. * I am not allowed to discuss specifics because I don't want to violate the Law but all I'll say is. This place will dissolve your Software Dev skills into powder.
