Pros

1. Fun Holiday parties and happy hour events 2. Hard-working and smart ICs

Cons

If you are currently interviewing or thinking about joining TripActions, I hope you read all the honest and real reviews before making a decision. I worked at TripActions through multiple Leadership and organizational changes. TripActions USED to be amazing, full of optimistic and hard-working individuals including Leadership teams. In the last 2 years, everything has changed for the worse and it will not get any better until the Leadership team changes completely. None of the Leadership team cares about you, only about how you can make them successful. 1. There is too much unnecessary work, without true direction which leads to constant changes (the frequency is not normal for a start-up of this size). 2. There is no transparency around peoples' feedback and opinions. We take employee surveys every few months but we don't actually present or talk about these survey results. They are just for show and to check a box. 3. I understand that TripActions is a high-growth business that is trying to IPO, but it is crazy how revenue is the only thing that they care about. Currently, I work at a highly-profitable company and the culture and approach around increasing revenue is SO different, healthy, and collaborative. 4. There is no collaboration between teams. It's a culture of pointing fingers around problems and turning a blind eye to things that need improvement. A 'not my problem' attitude across the company. I am not saying that TripActions is the WORST company to work for (believe me, I have worked for more toxic companies), but it's 2022. You have the RIGHT to be choosy and have options. If you care about making an impact, mental health, diversity, and belonging, TripActions is not for you. If you are the type of person who is just a shark, only wants to make money, and don't really have a life outside of work, then TripActions would be a good fit. Honestly, there is nothing wrong with that either, it's more about understanding who you are and who you aspire to be in your career.

Toxic Upper Leadership

Pros

Interesting people at the IC level. Free lunches. Good benefits.

Cons

Upper leadership worships Elon Musk. Burnout and penny-pinching make for a terribly toxic work culture.

Pros

None - unless you count being at a place that will ruin your mental health and sense of worth a pro.

Cons

First of all, my heart goes out to all reviewers across the company who have left reviews, whether it is in sales, engineering, or support. As someone who works closely with many functions, I observe that many of these accounts are true and can recognize the stressful environment many face. I am especially sorry to those who joined this company as excited and optimistic as I did, especially those who worked at this company as a new grad or as their first tech job. THERE ARE BETTER COMPANIES OUT THERE!! Know that this is not normal. There are other companies DO promote culture, care about enabling managers to support their ICs, and I feel very sorry about the many facing burnout because of how TripActions has treated them. Now onto the review: we are a company that has operated without ANY review or official talent management system until 2022. We have so many “managers” and NO management. There is no support for employees and this is across all departments. There is almost a hypocrisy in place. There is no clear path for development for junior people, and if you look at some peoples’ backgrounds, you’ll be confused as to why they are in their roles because they have no adjacent experience and it SHOWS!! These people end up churning through their ICs because they are so unable to provide them support and enablement. I and many of my peers have honestly never felt more gaslighted in my life than at this company. No one listens or cares to anyone’s concerns, whether it be mental health or about the company wellbeing in certain decisions. We all feel very expendable and not valued. If you feel valued here, you found yourself a unicorn team/management because it’s very rare to feel that way. I feel very sorry for everyone who came into this company with high hopes for themselves and their development and walked away with their tails tucked! The company leaves many many feeling burnt out and awful after they end up leaving (just look at how long of gaps people have after they leave to recover). I would highly advise anyone joining this company to READ ALL BAD REVIEWS - they are all very specific, truthful, and valid. ESPECIALLY those hoping this career will provide you with development. Finally — leadership does not ever comment on valuation and everything is a black box!!! We should be told every step of the way and understand how we are getting to these high valuation ##s but there is no mention of it ever! How should we feel confident about that with all of the attrition in the sales department?
