I worked with numerous managers at the company and my experience was the same across the board:
- First time managers across the company, only know how to micromanage and do not level up their team or advocate for employee promotions.
- Mangers only collect the information they need to pass up the line from their direct reports to make themselves look good and don't know how or don't have the bandwidth to invest time to their team.
- Negative work environment, Navan is known for being a mess of a company with ever-changing processes and re-orgs and the employees aren't afraid to express their dislike for working there. This makes it a toxic environment.
- CEO makes decisions on whim that make little to no business sense. He'll read a book and come in the next week with a rebrand or re-org because he was 'inspired'.
- Quiet layoffs throughout the year, no one feels they have job security. Even the most tenured of employees. You are just a number.
- Teams across the company are overworked and underappreciated (maxed out bandwidth)
