Culture of “Paranoia”

Pros

It is a company with ambitious vision and an ever-improving expense product.

Cons

If you weren’t part of the company 4 years ago, you feel like the “everybody else”. Constantly changing comp plans with delayed or no gratification. You are paid on consumption but judged on other metrics. There is no enablement from Sr Leadership to the managers, who are left to fend for themselves. CRO wants everyone to operate in a state of paranoia (actually vocalized) vs urgency. Product bugs out of a salesperson’s control can put you out of a commission check. The company is doing well relative to the macro environment, but no one feels like it is. A lot of people won’t make it here in a closing role unless they start extremely hot, which usually means they are given specific opportunities early by leadership.

Pros

Sko and bootcamp were fun

Cons

I was fortunate to work here during late 21’ and early 22’ before the mass migration when leaders and top performers left. During the summer when a ton of AEs went to competitors it became clear that TA will not be the market leader in corporate cards or expense. At the same time the leaders who left were replaced with middle of the pack ICs who didn’t want to have a quota. Now sdrs are poorly enabled and have no idea how to source or who to source as customers leaving AEs responsibly for sourcing a majority of their own opps. With a goal of hitting a 12b valuation to finally go public, TA is hiring like crazy to combat the high turnover and get their ARR high enough to reach that valuation. I genuinely feel bad for new hires that are being promised a culture that no longer exists by managers who are consciously ignoring a major change in the early 2023 roadmap that will make their jobs and lives stressful and uncomfortable

Pros

Great product, cool people, nice perks

Cons

company is constantly making changes with 0 explanation and always saying "you need to expect changes in a start up space!" while completely screwing you over. Completely micro-managed; forced to come into the office even if you are not feeling well, they also make excuses on the "optional work from home days" that make it not optional No upfront pay for deals - Comp plan changes happen monthly and quotas are constantly being raised most reps do not see commission checks until 2 months into the quarter and when they explain how it is stressing them out they are being told to "budget better" Employees with tenure get fed - they get leadership roles and run teams even though they are completely under qualified; they have a few recent hires that they use for examples of "meritocracy" culture even though most if not all leaders have been with the company for over 2 years If you want to be in a true sales role this is not the place
