Pros

There uUSED to be so many: 1, Level I Trauma Center with Residency and Fellowship programs associated with Mercer University School of Medicine. With this come some of the finest attending surgeons in the business teaching and everyone had the opportunity to learn. Surgical Trauma, Neurological, and Cardiovascular Intensive Care units once staffed with some of the finest physicians and nurses in the state. 3. The Surgery Center is a 23 room machine moving twenty-four hours a day seven days a week; when they have enough staff to open up enough of the rooms. 4. Large Heart Tower with Stroke Center Certification that was once filled with National Magnet Program nurses....USED to be staffed...,which moves me straight into the cons

Cons

Its a shame when you can't really think of many positive things to say about a job you loved at one time. There are too many cases of "Well, we used to have this..." or "We used to do that..." when we no longer get it or do it. The staff has had most of our benefits "frozen" as administration likes to call it. They have the liberty of calling it whatever they wish because the freeze does not affect the folks that get a salary, just the hourly paid. The hospital administration decided that they didn't feel like contributing to our retirement funds for a few months...so they stopped. Some employees have pension -plans, and I'm not sure about how that works. In any light, it is still a raw deal to give to those that are the backbone of your company. There is now a SEVERE SHORTAGE OF STAFF to cover any of the departments, especially those mentioned above.
