Great Place to Build a Career!
Pros
See something new every day. Great balance of approximately 60% field time and 40% office time working from home. I am in a remote area about an hour from the nearest urban area, and my time starts when I leave the driveway. The norm is about 45 hours per week with drive time. We are in charge of our own schedule, and have the flexibility to use some of our home time as our own as long as appointments are kept and work is getting done. Work life balance allows me a great career with three young kids in a two parent working household. Feels like a team atmosphere rather than a strict hierarchy. Company sponsored training and education during the slower times. Company provided vehicle, fuel card, and tools to do my job. Safety on site is a primary concern, and they never put me in a situation where I feel unsafe. Greater job security than the typical civil engineering industry.
Cons
Workload can be a bit stressful at times, but reaching out to others to let them know I need help is encouraged. As opposed to other places I have worked, they ask if we can put in 50 hour weeks for a period of time, rather than demand it. Asking for extra office time is also encouraged when you need it.
