Toxic culture & burnout!

Pros

There are still some really nice people who work there and who seem to truly care about the company, the culture, and team environment. Many of them still carry the positive spirit of the previous CEO and leadership team.

Cons

The new executive team has adopted what feels like the most profound Us vs. the little people mentality. The CEO likes to paint a picture of “Joe Working Man” who faced great poverty and adversity growing up which fuels his current approach to leadership, which would be fine if he (and the rest of the c suite team) weren’t living in luxury while those of us on the front lines work long hours coming home exhausted from burnout weren’t barely scraping by on extremely low wages. They also regularly promote sycophants who are gifted at perpetuating the negativity, extreme burnout and dangerously toxic culture. Many long-time employees have been forced to leave due to health-related issues stemming from the high demands from the leaders, general low respect, and barely livable wages.

Pros

Here’s a revised version: Established company offering excellent healthcare benefits and 401(k) plans, with options for remote and hybrid work. Enjoy a positive workplace culture and strong leadership at the senior level.

Cons

The base salary is low to average and does not correlate with individual performance. Employees receive only 13 days of paid time off initially. Bonuses are split, with 50% dependent on company performance and 50% on the specific brand’s results, but consistently achieving the full bonus is rare, often resulting in payouts of 0% to 5%. Additionally, salary increases are not aligned with inflation, leading to a decrease in real earnings over the past two years compared to when I first started.

Thank you for your detailed and candid feedback. We truly appreciate you taking the time to share both the positives and the areas where you feel we can improve. We’re glad to hear that you value our healthcare benefits, retirement plans, flexible work options, and the positive culture fostered by our senior leadership. These are all areas we’re proud of and continue to invest in. We also recognize your concerns regarding compensation, bonus structures, and advancement opportunities. Your feedback highlights important areas where we need to listen more closely and act more intentionally. We understand how critical it is for employees to feel recognized, fairly compensated, and supported in their career growth. We are actively reviewing our compensation and performance recognition practices to ensure they align more closely with employee contributions and market standards. Your comments about leadership engagement and idea ownership are especially important. We want every team member to feel heard and valued, and we’ll be sharing this feedback with our leadership teams to encourage more inclusive and transparent collaboration. Thank you again for your honesty and for helping us grow. If you’re open to it, we’d welcome a more in-depth conversation to better understand your experience and ideas. Pros

Some of the most dedicated, hard-working people I have ever worked with, work at Neighborly. Unfortunately, I saw many of their lights dim due to the short deadlines, high demands, and lack of empathy from leadership.

Cons

Leadership is out of touch with what it’s like to work directly with franchise owners and lacks empathy and support when team members are being poorly impacted due to the decisions made by leadership.
